TPMS vs MPG

I put on new tires that are D rated vs the stock E rated tires. So mt tpms was tripping and my truck was telling me I was averaging 7.5mpg WTF??? I took the truck in for a oil change today and had the tpms flashed I didn't mention the mpg I wanted to see what the truck would do with the tpms not tripping. I got in the truck and instantly without any driving I checked it and is was saying average of 15mpg. Do the two interact with each other? was my truck thinking the tires were grossly under inflated and changing my fuel efficiency accordingly?

I don't believe they interact together . Did you find out why the tpms was going off ?

New tires only could put 50lbs pressure the stock were 65

Wow , so what are you gonna do ? Live with it ? I wonder if you could go to the dealer and have them alter the tpms spec in the computer .

No they lowered the threshold of the tpms to accommodate the lower pressure and as soon as that was done the average mpg went back to normal. almost instantly. I was getting scared with the 7.5mpg ratings it was a good week like that with a few resets. I was warming the truck up due to extremely cold weather but that was rediculous.
