How do you tell?

How do you tell if the HVAC controller is bad vs something else? Problem....I turn the Hot/Cool air knob to heat and it wont go back to cool air when turned back to cool air selection UNLESS I turn the fan to low or turn the selector switch to off so the fan will stop blowing all together. SOMETIMES when it is blowing cool air it just switches to hot air by itself. It seems to do this when I'm slowing down.

So How do I tell if its the controller or something else, being there is a complete dash full of heat/air vents, doors, motors, etc.? Controller at dealer is $220. I don't want to wast money.

Thanks in advance

Our trucks have a lot of problems with the vents that open and close to re-reroute the air. It can be expensive to fix although it is not your heating system per say.

Not guaranteeing that is your problem, but it would be a pretty good place to start. Does air come out of your vents when you are driving with the fan off? (Not a very significant amount but enough to feel none the less)

No air comes out unless fan is on
