so i got a buddy whose asking me all these questions about my hemi enging in my 2011 ram and hes saying the ecoboost f150 destroys the hemi

Is this true or can i slap him

Look these theoretical match ups are all well and good but at least in my case there is a visceral experience of having a V8 that can't be matched by any other type of motor despite raw statistics. There is a sound, a feel that a V8 has and that's all there is to it.

The only place the eco boost really kills the hemi is in fuel mileage.
Eco-boost has 360hp and 420 lb-ft of torque @ 2500rpm vs. 390 hp and 407lb-ft @ 4200 rpm.
His max trailer weight is only 8800 lbs vs. the Rams 10k lbs

race him...shutem up and post the kill for some rep points. lol

E220 03-16-2011 02:19 PM

haha yeah he hasnt got it yet

hes probably trying to save gas telling me my ram isnt good

ill run him over

The ecoboosts are good powerplants, but they wont stand up to a hemi for off-the-line power.

E220 03-16-2011 02:40 PM

the ecoboost says has 11300 lbs of towing weight

so any other thoughts on whats better a hemi or the eco boost

I test drove one before I bought my 2011 RAM. That should tell you what I thought of it. They are trying for power with good mpg. Good luck with that!!! It just doesn't sound like I thought it would and the interior couldn't compare with my Laramie's. It's for those out there who think Fords are great. The price isn't cheap either.

There are several new tests on-line with the new Ecoboost. It is a very good engine and in the pulling and dyno tests that are out there against Dodge and Chevrolet, the Ford is kicking their asses.. Don't let the HP and tq rating fool you, once you add twin turbos on the correct platform, they will put distance on N/A vehicles.

There is only one way to find out.. Make sure you get it on vid.

I wonder how much it hold up for repairs in the long haul. I can't imagine a twin turbo being as worry free with 100,000+ miles like V8. I certainly would get nervous when my warranty ran out that's for sure.
