New to tuners

im looking at putting a tuner in to my 2007 ram hemi 4x4 and have narrowed it down to the edge evo, and the superchips cortex. any input on which to go for would be awesome. i like the idea of having the pod with the evo but the superchips sounds like id be getting more power. also would i be able to use both of these tuners at the same time or is that a bad idea??

Do yourself a favor and buy the diablosport predator. The paramaters that can adjust is just awesome.

Also if you ever plan to do internal modifications to your engine LIKE a cam or heads, the diablo can be used for custom tuning. And if i recall it's less than $350 bucks. It's PC updatable as well.

It IS the best tuner for any hemi.

would you reccommend pairing it with the trinity? or is that not needed?

DO NOT pair any of these tuners, very bad conflicts of programming can occur. If you are set on those two, then I'd go with the cortex, they have the best transmission programming out there.

I do agree with Alex about the predator; it's the most adaptable programmer on the market. The trinity has all the same programming and features as the predator, but has the ability to have real-time displays, a pyrometer module, and can mount in the cab.

what it comes down to is how far do you think you'll mod your truck? if you think you'll go as far as a cam or ported heads then i agree with the others and say the diablo is a better choice because you may want to do some custom tuning down the road (or may be required to). But, if you gonna stay light like a catback exhaust and cold air intake, then go the superchips route. They have the most experience with our hemi's out of all the tuners, better tranny control and if they would have come through with custom tuning like they promised years ago, i would have stuck with them. but either way, your choice should be between these 2 and none of the others...

Probably the best advice.

What chefred said!!!!

Here's the dyno data on my 2007 Hemi Ram before and after installation of the DiabloSport Predator just so you can see what gains I got.

And here's the air/fuel ratio. The lower line is after the Predator install.

http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...edator/D09.jpg

You can see a good gain in HP and torque at a lower RPM in the first sheet. This moves the truck off the line. Those measurements remain pretty flat all the way across the RPM band.

On the air/fuel ratio sheet, the upper line is the stock A/F ratio and it ran pretty lean across the RPM band and then it drops off to a really rich ratio. The lower line is with the Predator and it starts to richen up (but not too much, it's right where the Hemi likes it, around 12.5 at redline) as more power is demanded of the engine. Since it's not running lean anymore, the knock retard program won't be pulling timing and fuel, robbing me of power.

Anyway, that's what I got with mine. I also have a Predator with a custom tune loaded on my 300 SRT8. That thing is a beast!
