tie rod ends, how many???
I have a 2000 3/4 ton and just replaced the steering gear box and track bar.
I went to get the front end aligned and they said i needed tie rod ends. Now to my question how many tie rod ends are there and are they easy to change?? thanks in advance for all the help I appreciate it.
i believe that there are 2 tie rod ends, they could cost any where from $40 - about $140 each, i use MOOG parts
for the do it yourselfer you will need several tools
open end wrench, correct size
pliers & screwdriver
pickle fork (possibly)
here is a lousy video
then you still have to get an alignment afterwards, i just pay them, they have to tools & knowledge
2 Tie rod ends, and it cost around $100 shipped from Rockauto.
I suggest ordering them online and doing it yourself. I have greasable MOOGs too as stated above.
ok thanks , but arent there inner and outer tie rod ends???
I you have a "Y" steering setup you 'technicaly" have 4
One from the grear box to the draglink adjusting sleeve.
The drag link itself which on the "Y" steering is the RH puter TRE
The one that TRE goes across the front of the differential where your steering stabilizer bolts to. Its attached to above.
Lastly the LH outer tucked up at the drivers side tire.
