Transmission Cooler line problems
have a '97 Dodge Ram PU 1500 5.9 liter Gas. One of the Transmission cooler lines was plugged where there is a check valve located within the line. It is a quick change line from the hard lint to tranny to cooler The check valve is located witnin a short flexible line with a check valve in it. I cannot find the short quick change flex part wiyhout buying the entire line back to the tranny. What is the purpouse of this valve and where xcan I get it? have drilled the valve out to keep the truck running but do not know if I should have done thuis till I find a replacement line.

My transmission guy removed that check ball thing, he has seen many rams with trany problems, and this is one of the things dodge did that kills them. the ball gets stuck and prevents the trany from cooling. Any way when I bought my truck dodge had replaced the trany, it lasted about a year then I took it to my buddy. He rebuilt the trany, removed that check ball thing and put a different cooler in. Bottom line, I have 178,000 miles on my truck and about half of that is after my buddy did the trany work. My truck pulls a 3000lb trailer 5 to 6 days a week for work. If it were the stock setup still I would have junked it and bought a chevy. My opinion, Get rid of that check ball.
