Axle Width

Ok, I have tried to search and can't come up with an acceptable answer I am looking, close but no quite close enough.

I may catch some flak, but oh well. I am looking for the axle width of a front Dana 44 axle for the 2nd gen. No this is no going back into a dodge it will be going into my Jeep Wrangler. I have a high pinion D30 there now and it can handle 35's, but its a thin walled axle and prone to bending (mine already has). My current axle width from hub to hub is 65.5 inchs plus I have 1.5 inch spacer so right now I am at 67inches even. I have found a D44 from a ram is 61 inches from ball joint to ball joint. As long as the axle is 65.5 in width I can make it work. Its a potential bolt on for a cheap upgrade. Currently aftermarket D44 axles are right about 3 to 5 grand. My junkyard has em for 150 bucks. Any info would be appreciated.

Well I'm not sure, I was hoping that someone would answer by now, but, the post has been empty so far. From what I've seen in spec sheets the width of the RAM is a few more than the Jeep. There are a lot of custom axels out there but as you said the $$$ is a big difference in what you can pick up in a junk yard.
