paint protection film

has anyone tried vinyl paint protection film over rear wheel area&other rust prone areas on their ram. have seen many fairly new rams & other makes with lots of surface rust in this area & wonder if this might help to stop this from happening.

it does as long as there is none there already. if there is then youll want to fix them before you put the film on.

I don't think the film will protect from rust.
The rust usually starts at the edge of the panel after the bend into the wheel well. Plus there is no crisp body line to end the film, so you'll see the line where the film ends.
Keep the truck clean and waxed and you should be OK. Make sure to clean where the plastic wheel well meets the fender as sand and debris can get caught in there rub through the paint and hold moisture to start the rusting process

putting the film behind the wheels will stop it from rusting cause it will help stop the paint from chipping which causes alot of rust.

The rust over the rear wheel arch's is caused by dirt getting trapped between the outer skin and the inner quarter. Rinse the heck out of that area EVERY time you wash your truck. (I fix this damage under warranty fairly regularly)

If you are worried about the fender lip getting chipped and rust starting try linex. On my 2011 I took it the the linex dealer and they charged 112 bucks to do all of the fender lips. This will prevent rock chips and help stop rust formation.

That's a great idea. It wont help the rust over the wheel well though. Too bad inside there couldn't be be linex'd.

I just bought some of this stuff to put on the edges of my rear bumper on my sport and other painted edges that are prone to rock chips. I'll let ya know how it works.
