Got outta water and felt like truck wasnt getting enough gas

Hello all if someone could tell me why the truck felt like it wasnt getting enough gas after i took it through deep water it's be great, dont fret i let her sit for awhile and she's running like new

you could have sucked in a batch of water and your air filter was possibly soaked. cant breath under water you know.

hmm

guess ill invest in a snorkel then!
thanks

I guess you may have been LUCKY
if you took water into your air intake system, the water sits on top of your cylinders & could cause hydro locking
that can cause bent connecting rods & complete engine failure

If it was stuttering, you may have gotten water in your distributor cap. After sitting, it may have dried out. If it happens again, take off the cap and check for water. You can also silicone it to keep the water out, and use some dilectric grease for the wires.

check distrubitor plugs and air filter...trust me the intake set up for out truck is not ideal off road modify it or invest in a snorkel I will be doing one or the other soon

I've been thinking about this and a 14x3 cleaner seems to be the best bet outside of a snorkel. That gets the intake nice and high up.

ajake, I agree with those who say that the truck's air filter is wet. That seems like it would cause the problem you describe.

What do you mean by a 14x3 cleaner. I was thinking about modifying where the engine takes air from to be up higher in the engine bay and facing up as opposed to behind the head light and facing forward I really want the TJ set up where you can move the stock intake to be facing straight up

One of these

Mounted right on top of the throttle body and away from most water.

i have a 14x3 open face air cleaner and i have to clean it very often when i go off road it gets dirty easily.
so id assume if you went through water it gets soaked easily too.
