Abs problems

My abs light came on about 2 weeks ago out of no where. I recently changed my rear brake pads about a month ago and my front pads about 4 month ago. The brakes pedal also vibrate a little bit when coming to a stop. This only happens on a couple of stops after i start up the truck. The brakes also stick a least once after starting up the truck and driving it. Would could be the probable causes of this issue?

A big Hello and a WarmCarolina WELCOME! I hope you make the most of the best RAM ForumZ on the Web!

I wonder, did you have the roters turned when you did the pads?

Drop by the Newbie Checkin and introduce yourself, use the link in my SIG.

No the rotors were not turned. Could this make the abs light come on because the light is on even before i start driving the truck

I was thinking about the vibrations, have you checked at an auto shop to have them read the code that has been set?

I replaced the abs rear speed sensor, but the abs and brake lights are still on. I haven't felt any vibration but im not understanding why the warning lights still on.

yes the rotor thats not turned could cause the vibs. ive been lookin into the brakes pretty heavily as my front disks are shot. as for the abs light, best to see what code is poping up. could be nothing for that matter. mabye it tripped when the brakes were worked on?

I have had the same problem intermittently and have replaced speed sensor also and have new pads and rotors. I now think it is the front left hub that has the ABS sensor in it so I may replace the hub.

redrumrevolution1 04-27-2011 01:33 AM

I replaced both front hubs some time in the past year, so I dont think it will be my hub. Could there be any other causes?

I might be wrong but I read somewhere (think it was haynes) that there was an abs sensor in each front hub and one on the rear diff. Total of 3
