So am I a Dick?

So me and my girlfriend live together, (haha isnt this how alot of good and horrible stories start) lol any how we live together and tonight she asks me if this weekend I will take her to teach her how to drive my truck as shes never driven a pickup before. My response is sure hunny. Immediatly following me saying hunny she says well good because I want to start using it to drive back and forth to work. Now umhum I look at her and say wellllll I dont think so. Her need for this is we live 15 miles from her work place and she wants to stop racking miles up on her brand new Toyota Highlander. Anyway she thinks im kidding at first when I tell her no. So she looks at me and says well why not? And isnt that OUR truck now??? Now I've been married before and that whole OUR thing turned out horribly as it ended in my 2005 F150 being ingulfed in flames. Any now I respectfully tell her no I dont wish for her driving my truck to her work, she has her vehicle and I have mine no need for switching. Well I apparently am a dick and she went to bed without a word....ugh

Hazardous ground you tread there, so how many miles do you drive to work daily? And what would you use if she did take your truck? I'm on your side by the way, she probably gets better MPGs from her truck, do you both use it for the other day to day driving?

she'll be better in the morning... hopefully. Good luck!

well i drive 20 a day round trip for work plus whatever errands i run throughout the day, and she'd want me to use her Highlander that i absolutely hate driving btw lol. and yes hers gets close to 27 to 30 MPG and mine well its a V10 enough said. And when shes here we park her car and use my truck to do all our runnin around. But the main concern is that shes not the best driver. And has enough trouble in her midsized SUV, and not to mention shes a Chicago native and thinks she has to drive 80 MPH no matter where shes going if shes late or not. Im just not comfortable with the idea of havin her in control of my baby without me there. lol As silly as it may sound it would be like watching my daughter go to preschool all over again. Sad to not have her around and worried about her all day. Just not comfortable with it one bit. lol

and im not really too worried about that, I can calm her down. But was just more curious as I've never been a materialistic person. But with my Ram its different. Feel like Ive got this bond with the truck and I know her inside and out and really wouldnt want to be without her all day. Weird. Or at least I think so.

"Hunny, I totally agree with you. The Highlander is just not the right vehicle for you, so I have located a great Ram for you. Would you like to test drive it today or tomorrow?"

Option B -, trade her straight up, and trade the Toy in for a 2011 HD Ram. :woohoo:

Either way, the hardest part is doing either one without breaking into hysterical laughter. That would just blow the sincerity right out the window. :D

tell her no dice...plain and simple! its always the same story...you give an inch, she wants a mile!

That to me would be the making of a BAD movie called Trouble in Paradise. Good luck you sound as if you need it! My answer would simply be no because it is my truck and I am not comfortable driving your POS.

I let my girlfriend drive my truck once and that was it!! She used to drive an old suburban like it was a freaking indy car or something. Anyways, she got a little carried away and couldn't make tighter turns and she kept wanting to hot rod it so I made her get back over in the passenger side. She was pissed but she got over it lol. I couldn't handle seeing her drive like a maniac in my truck.

Hopefully your girl isn't too mad lol. I'm sure she'll get over it eventually. And just think of it this way; she's so jealous of it, she wants it for herself. So, if you do someday get married (not saying you will, just hypothetically), make sure the truck is in your name for the worst case scenario!! lol

Yeah and she will not forget your answer no matter how much time passes. This is going to haunt you for years to come, unless you get rid of her or her SUV and get her own truck.
