Limited slip diff's

Can anobody here advise why Dodge, in their infinite wisdom, decided to only offer the LSD in the 3.92 gear option? I know that the traction control is the current technology, but I prefer to have the old school mechanical locking diff. My 2011 has the 3.55's, so obviously I didn't get the LSD. From what I can see, it was only offered as standard equipment in the Outdoorsman package, and maybe in the Sport package.:4-dontknow:

Yeah...I hear ya. Seems weird, don't it? I have no idea why they would do that.

and that would be why most of us are fixing their "issue" out of our own pocket

Just a thought.....for fuel mileage? Every little bit helps mfgrs meet or exceed the CAFE requirements.

I guess what's the most confusing to me is, won't the same carrier that works for the 3.92's work for the 3.55's? And, how does an LSD diff effect mpg's?

My truck spins both tires on pavement with 3.55 gears.

just a guess but maybe they buy all the carriers prebuilt and to save money they only ordered them in one ratio...

LSD is optional for the 3.55 ratio from the factory i believe

you're right. that's new. the Ram site lets you select anti-spin differential with the 3.55s or 3.92s but it is removed if you select the 3.21s.
