True Dual Exhaust...need help!!!

O.k. I ordered a Magnaflow X pipe, 2 magnaflow mufflers with the idea that I could get a true dual exhaust made. I'm being told by local exhaust shops this cannot be done on this truck. They said in order to get the true dual you would need to cut into the stock Y pipe and make them seperate, however they said this would make the sensors malfunction and produce unwanted results (they know this from trying it before). I know there are some folks out there that have done the true dual setup...my question is how did you do it? Did you have to buy new down pipes from the stock headers along with new cats? Need some info please.

There are no 02 sensors after the cats....cut away!!!! Here is my exhaust thread mod...didn't do duals, but I did everything right after the cats.

first off, those guys don't know what they are talking about...find another exhaust shop.
second, like Timmy said, as long as you cut after the O2 sensors you'll be fine.

That's exaclty what I thought, but this guy is supposed to be very good and is the go to guy in St. Louis. Trying to find a good exhaust shop around here is like finding a needle in a haystack.

maybe he didn't understand what you wanted. was your truck on the lift or were you talking to him on the phone? this happened to me when I had my y-pipe installed...called the guy up told him what I wanted and he said "it won't work". we weren't on the same page until we were under the truck and I showed exactly how I wanted to pipe routed.

I'm pretty sure he understood what I wanted, but it's possible he misunderstood. Anyway I found another shop and I'm headed there in the morning to throw it on the lift and see what's what with this guy.
