2011 Ram R/T alpine upgrade (calling chithead please)
I have already purchased a MRA-F350 5 channel theater amp thats 50x5 and has 5.1 capability but i just want to run it on my front stage. Here is the proposed setup for that option:
Imprint kit (so i can bandpass the midbasses and highpass the wideband drivers)
3 H Audio Trinity in the factory dash locations
H Audio Ebonys in the factory door locations
Alpine MRA-F350 for the H Audio's
Alpine MRP-M350 for a Type R 8 behind the driver seat
Another option would be much simpler to install i think but would lose the center channel
Alpine PXE-H660 (includes imprint for bandpass and allows hookup of aftermarket amp i just don't know if its compatible with Can bus)
Alpine MRX-V60 5 channel
H Audio Trinity in factory locations at the corners of dash
H Audio Ebony in doors
Alpine Type R 8 behind seat again
What do you think i should do i need to make a decision this weekend?
Man if that setup doesn't sound familiar... except I was going to try the MS8 and ID OEM mids in the doors.
I think you are definitely on the right track, getting rid of the factory head unit and processing is essential if you want to take the next step with your audio experience.
And for the record, I've never been a fan of the easy way out :D:D:D
Yeah i really like the factory head unit though and don't want to have to buy another sirius tuner, steering wheel control adapter, and all the extra cost of install so i think i am going to take the easier way out.
Alpine PXE-H660 integration/time alignment/crossovers
MRX-V60 5 channel
H Audio Ebony/Trinity combo or used Type X Pro 6.5's on diyma for $200, maybe even the new 2011 Type R 6.5" component i can get them for $150
Type R 8
I think you would like the Type-R or Type-X components. Sometimes less is more, especially if you get a good processor that can clean up the terrible factory settings and give you a nice flat baseline to start from.
Why keep the center channel spkr? Are you looking for a theater experience or a music experience. If you working towards great musical sound, skip the center channel.
