To resonate or not to resonate
So I need some clarification. I've been under the assumption that the resonator on the exhaust was to aid in cutting down on the drone when the Hemi's MDS kicked in. I also was thinking that Dodge just installed them on all their truck to cut down on production costs and time. As I read more and more, it seems that the resonator cuts down on drone even in the non-MDS's like my 4.7.

So come on guys... which is it? Do you have a Non-MDS Ram and removed the resonator and now have the drone noise? Did anyone put it back on and have the drone go away?

What say you Hemi MDS'ers... Resonate or not to resonate?

I don't have the resonator on mine and there's no drone with MDS off and only a slight one under load with it on. It doesn't bother me at all.

I left mine on...some like em off some don't. Here is a bit of info for ya though.

Exhaust resonators provide a wide array of benefits to vehicle owners. Aside from reducing the noise from the engine's exhaust system, resonators also enhance overall engine performance and smoother driving because more horsepower is yielded without wasting as much fuel. Noise suppression also helps in passing fuel emission tests, as the resonator prevents chassis rattling, an effect that usually leads to contaminated fuel emissions.

When I get mine done I'm thinking about dumping the exhaust out the side before the rear tires. I seen that Magnaflow has a catback dual out side dump part # 16868. I don't think I'll do the catback but at least a 22" with the side dump.

Any thoughts?

Your assumption is true. It's just that HEMI drone in MDS mode is really bad, IMHO.

All systems can drone and you will see some aftermarket catbacks that come with resonators.
