Best way to increase power/mpg for 07 5.7?
Am looking at the best way to improve the stock 345 horse to closer to 400 plus get better mileage. Thinking about porting and polishing heads/intake and a handheld tuner. I had a Superchips tuner that didn't work too well with the MDS (kept disengaging the MDS at highway speeds) and it didn't improve anything. I saw an episode of either Trucks! or Extreme 4X4 where they improved both mpg/hp by adding an aftermarket EFI system and I'd like to do that, but I don't remember who makes the system and I can't find that episode. If anyone can help with any of the above listed please respond!

I have an 07 Hemi as well, the bottom line if you increase your Hp your going to looses MPG, no way around it. pre-09 Hemi actually dynoed at around 290 at the rear wheels and with the big three CAI, tunner, exhaust you can pick it up to about 310-320 give or take

to increases your MPG there is only one way to do that .....change the way you drive. keep the RPMs under 2k roll out of the gas if you rolling up on a stop light thats red long before you would normally break take off from stop lights/ stop signs easy basically drive like a gray haired old lady on her way to church on Sunday morning

Yeah, i figured that was the answer. I'm mostly looking for a way to make the engine run more efficiently (port/polish, more efficient EFI, etc...) to get gains in both hp & mpg. Thanks for the advice racer!

gears..upgrade whatever you have..the easier your motor works to get up to speed, the more gas you save..

Intake, exhaust and a DiabloSport Predator programmer.

I talked to a budy of mine and he says that port/polish job will do pretty much nothing for a HEMI. Is this the case? I trust my buddy, but I'd like to know what the majority of the MOPAR community thinks.

No, not really as the heads flow pretty well. Couple a port and polish with a different cam, though, now yer talkin'!
