2001 Ram 2500 – A/C - sometimes blows hot - sometimes cold
I can't figure this problem out!!!!! Any input would be appreciated
In late evenings or night when sun & ambient temp down a/c works 100%.
Mornings drive to work – park – start up at lunch – turn a/c on -- idle 45 mins. -- blows cold air the entire time.
************************** – start up at lunch – turn a/c on -- drive 2 miles down the road – blows hot air
When driving and blowing hot air – turn a/c off for approx. 5 minutes – turn a/c back on and will blow cold air a couple of minutes – then blows hot again.
Under the hood**
-- Compressor sound and appears to be cycling just fine.
-- Condenser is free of bugs and fins are 90% good.
-- Accumulator is never frozen up.
-- Engine never overheats.
In the cab ** No wet carpet below HVAC evaporator area to indicate evaporator freezing up or the evaporator drain is blocked.
Under the truck** After shutting truck off occasionally notice puddle of water underneath indicating that evaporator drain is not blocked
Have not checked ** Freon level (High or Low side pressure) -- that the a/c works 100% at times would indicate that the pressure and freon level is good.
Have recently replaced ** (not for this problem) 1) A/C and Heater Control Unit
2) Blower Motor
Need to replace ** (only have high speed on blower) Blower Motor Resistor
sounds like the valve that crontrols the coolant that goes to the heater core isnt shutting all the way or possibly vibrating open. or even just be a lose blend door that isnt directing air flow properly
