The Death Wobble

Had the wobble about a year ago. Got (I think it's called "Larrys' link) seemed to fix the problem. I got the wobble again the other day, not as bad but still had to slow down to stop it.

What is this wobble (mechanically)? And what is the fix?

Fist post, be gentle...

Edit: I did a search on this before i made this thread, and came up with pretty much nothing useful. Then after i made this thread, there were some posts that came up under the "similar threads box" Helpful, but i would still like to here what you think.

"Death Wobble" is something that usually occurs with short wheelbase vehicles like Jeeps (I know because I have one) and less frequently with lifted trucks. Like you said, you have to slow down to stop it or at least regain control of the vehicle - and if you can't or don't there's a better than even chance that you will lose total control of the vehicle - hence the name.

There are a variety of causes of death wobble, and it's usually eliminated by a process of elimination - starting with a good wheel alignment. Here's a link to what I think is a pretty good explanation of possible causes.

There's a on ramp getting on the freeway near by that would bring on the death wobble every time if you would stay on the throttle hard. Had more than one front end shop look at the truck, quite a few front end alignments later still had the wobble. This was my last truck a 03 Dodge one ton dually, only mods were Sky jacker front level springs. Have heard stock trucks get the death wobble as well

death wobble

hey thr, does this death wobble thingy happen to stock, leveld and lifted trucks? Is thr certain years that it seems to happen to more then other year trucks. It seems like dodge dropped the ball on this if it happens to stock trucks.

Most of the folks that have experienced it here had the problem after installing a leveling kit.
