timing chain replacement
hello all noob here. ques. i have is how involved is it to change a 2000 ram 1500 5.9l timing chain?
Welcome to the forum. Not a hard job. You'll want to make sure you mark your timing gear so it's oriented properly. Check your old and new chain for a corresponding reference mark.
Basically, it's all at the front of the engine. Access with the radiator in place is very tight. Frankly, going through the front with the radiator gone is the easiest way to get this done.
Oh, it will save you a lot of time and confusion if you get a service manual. I got mine off eBay in a .pdf format on a CD for about $15.
thanks 4 the response. while thumbing thru manual should i just replace front gasket @ the front of oil pan? i figure if i have to loosen 2 front pan bolts i prolly should replace (155,000mi) it. my luck i will have problems if i don't.
