Anyone else have squeaky windows??
Here lately, whenever I roll my windows down or up, they squeak all the way down, and all the way up. Almost like a groaning squeak. It is nothing internal, I think its the black strip that rubs the window as it comes up out of the door or goes down into it.
How do I make it stop!? Obviously I cant lube that strip, because it touches the glass, but the only thing that seems to make it stop is water, for about 10 minutes.
idk my window knock so.........
I had this on a previous vehicle. I can't remember what exactly was done to stop it, but it was some sort of lubrication fix.
Lubing the rubber strip that you were talking about... not where it makes contact with the window, but between that point and where it attached to the door.... The squeak is caused by the rubber piece being too rigid, and if it can be softened up a little bit, the friction is reduced, therefore no squeak.
I can't remember what was used for this. I'll wrack my feeble brain for the solution. This was while I was still in high school, and the car was a '79 Merc so it's been awhile.
Maybe someone else will know what I'm talking about.
I had this issue.
Dealer replaced the power window motor and it stopped. I didnt think it was it but it stopepd after they replaced it for free.
