DSP questions MDS/ octane/ Diablo custom tunes.
Just got my DSP. Went out and put in the 87 PERF tune. Spent another 20 minutes trying to find out how to shut off the MDS. I think I search everywhere with no luck. Can someone walk me through the steps, since this is the main reason I bought the DSP.(With magnaflow exhaust the 4 cylinder tone sucks.)
Also if I use the 87 tune, can or should I be using 87 octane? In the DSP manual it says use premium for all their tunes.
The final question is should I contact Diablosport and have them send me a custom tune? Again in their manual it says that the tuner may have issues with aftermarket parts. (Exhaust, CAI) I have a Magnaflow cat back and AFE stage 2 CAI. I am of course looking for alittle HP and response, but also mileage and possibly 87 octane. (With gas prices through the roof.)
I wish I can help you with the 87 grade situation but I'm using 91 in my truck. I know a lot guys who don't care about what grade gas they use there cars/trucks but if recommended is 89 I would stick with it, unless off course you have a tuner kit then you can adjust it to whatever you want! But just to be sure you should call diablo sport and ask them about the book saying to use "premium gas only"...basically all your doing is adjusting the timing on it because now your going to be using a lower grade gas. About the whole shutting off the mds part... I'll attach a link at the bottom it will tell you exactly what to do...but it's going to make a huge difference in your gas milleage, but you be the judge...anyways I hope this helps a bit
Thanks for the help. I'll call Diablo..

MDS gets turned off by using the modify tune
You modify the tune after you load it to turn off the MDS.
Plug in the Predator, choose Performance Tunes > Diablo Tunes > (your tune)> Modify Tune > Modify Parameters
Then scroll down.
Custom tunes can be secured from Johan at DS, Bob @ SVS.com and if you have an authorized tuning shop locally that has the DS software and a dyno you can get one from them. That's what I have on my SRT.
