Header Coatings
Gonna purchase my headers soon, just wondering how yall feel about the different coatings? Is it worth it to get them ceramic coated? Im sure it cuts down on some of the heat and increases longevity. Anyone been running just painted LT headers? Just wondering if its worth the extra money to get them ceramic coated, or just say fawk it and go with the 200 dollar painted ones. Also, that Jet-Hot stuff...anyone got that? opinions? Thanks!

mine are jet hot coated...shows a little wear at the collector but looks new at the heads...had them over 5 years and close to 175k miles on them...

I just bought a set of long tube pacesetters. I bought the $260 ones which were just painted black. I took em to a local powder coating/ceramic coating company where they put a 2000* ceramic coating on for $200. I also had em coat my new y-pipe. I would definately suggest getting your headers coated; whether you buy them with it or take it to a local shop like I did.

I had a ceramic coating on a set of SLP headers on my '95 Impala SS and they lasted forever! The coating, after 90K miles, looked brand new. No problems and, while I didn't test it, I have no reason not to believe that the coating reduces underhood heat.

Yeah coating would be a great idea for longevity, I've heard some people complain about painted headers rusting out after 1, 2, 3 years etc... on other vehicles. If I'm not mistaken, jethot is ceramic coating right? I'd get stainless steel at a minimum, they will turn ugly colors but will last a long time.

Yeah im def gonna get the ceramic coated ones, cheapest Ive found was 379.00 which is pretty good since I see a lot of 399.00 a set
