Trailer Weight

I'm trying to determine what weight 5th Wheel (if any) my 2004 Ram 1500, short bed 5.7L Hemi can safely tow. I'm looking at a 8500 lb gross weight 30' 5th wheel. Any advice is appreciated. I know I would need a 16k sliding reciever. 1 person told me I don't have enough truck for a 5th wheel. What say you all?

Hi again Cindy, what gears are in your truck? Normally fifth wheel towing is handled with a 3/4 ton truck. But geared and equipped right the truck can handle a good load.
