HELP!!! Got my 05 Durango back fromd dealer now it ticks
Here is a video of it, but you may have to turn the volume up loud to hear it.
I took my wife's Durango into the dealer to have new plugs, transmission flush and shocks put on. After they had the Durango for 3 full days we get it back. As my wife pulls into the drive she hops out and tells me it is making a funny ticking noise that speeds up when you accel. I hop in, listen and sure enough her hemi is now making a ticking noise.
Hopefully someone can tell me some thoughts on what it might be as tomorrow morning I will be returning to the dealership to tear someone a part. I didn't leave my wife's suv there for 3 days and spend $$$ to get back an engine with a ticking noise.
Interesting sound. I can't tell what I'm hearing. Maybe someone else will come along with a more discerning ear.
Did they do an oil change at the same time? I wonder if they used the right oil, and/or if the oil filter is restricted. That really sounds like upper valve train noise, which can be caused by low oil volume to the lifters.... :4-dontknow:
A trip back to the dealer is warranted.
