I want to replace my stock muffler.

I know there is several threads out there about replaceing the whole system with a catback system; however, I don't have the money for that. I have decided to go with a Magnaflow after reading all the threads and seeing how everyone recomends Magnaflow over Flowmaster. I just need some help on what part number I need to do this. I have stock duals coming out the back. I am not sure what size mufler I need.:4-dontknow: Any help would be great.

Jegs has them for a pinch over $100 depending on model. #12278 with 2" outlets, #12288 with 2.5" outlets and #12298 with 3" outlets. Single in--dual out style.

When you mean size, I am guessing you mean 14", 18", 22", (as well as the sizes KCD posted above).

Most of the posts I have read, the 18" is a good upgrade over stock without being too loud. Start up and WOT the thing sounds great, but not too loud if you don't want it to be. For everyday driving, I have been happy with the 18". If I were to do it over again, I'd do a 22" just because of the drone when pulling the camper. My 18" Magnaflow does not have bad drone most of the time, but pulling the camper, its pretty noticeable.

check out http://www.mufflex-performance.com/. It's a do-it-yourself kit with Magnaflow and the custom hanger. Easy to install. I went with the 18 and am very happy with the sound.

Do you have true duals? In other words, do you need two mufflers?

Its not true duals, it uses the stock rear pipes and the muffler gets replaced with a magnaflow.

Thanks guys for the input. Now I just have to explain to my wife why I NEED this done to my truck before she spends the money somewhere else.

Oh...so it's a single in / dual out unit. Perfect!
