iPod touch/iPhone/Bluetooth audio fix for 430/RBZ and probably 430N also

After some constant scouring to get my iPod and/or streaming from my phone working, I just ran across this posting a couple of days ago:

www.*******************/forums/f5/ipod-supposed-work-430-radio-61355/

*edited* I don't know what the deal with URLs is, but it's on challenger talk dot com, then add forums/f5/ipod-supposed-work-430-radio-61355 after the slash

After following this guy's procedure with the files provided iPod controls now work right with my touch 4G and also streaming audio works like it should off of my droid. I'm going to go ahead and assume that this fixes most of the uConnect glitches people have been reporting. I did the 'older' software since my Ram is an older build 2011, but I see he's got the 'newer' number up there too

The only thing that *doesn't* work is album art from the iPod, but that may be the fault of the music as other people say it's hit and miss and they've been occasionally able to fix the music to work properly.

I suppose the Ram forum software is blocking the URL in your post?

pgienger 08-01-2011 02:06 PM

Yeah, they definately are, I just wish I knew the special sauce to get it to unblock since I know I've seen them posted freely

I finally got the URL typed in right but it doesn't look like it will do anything for what I'd like to fix. I really wish that when you are listening to the iPod and you shut the truck off that you came back to where you were on the iPod instead of it defaulting to the radio every time. Same sort of issues with the 8.4 in my Charger as well. It won't retain where the iPod was playing but defaults to the first song on the iPod every time. I know that song really well now. ;) I know that Dodge is working on it but how difficult can it possibly be to make an iPod work correctly? :4-dontknow:

Thanks for the heads up. I downloaded the file and updated my radio. Ipod works great and streaming pandora from my droid now works flawlessly.

Just put my 3rd Gen iPod Touch on the home charger (don't use it in my truck since it has never worked). Gonna install this upgrade while the iPod is charging. Will give it a test run and post the results when done. Hope it works.

Did not work for me. Followed instructions but nothing. Did not have much time tonight so will try again tomorrow with hopefully better results. Given my rush, it is possible it was user error but I doubt it.

it worked for me! Thank you so much for the link. It took me a while to get it to work but that's because I kept holding down the Uconnect button instead of the Phone button. In addition, I had to do it as soon as I plugged in the usb stick otherwise it didn't work either.

PS. This fixed the Bluetooth streaming issue I had with my Android phone. I can finally use that to stream audio books without it sounding like they were all read by Alvin and the Chipmunks..

Razor, when you say 'did nothing' do you mean really nothing or said no software update available? Assuming the former, you have to plug it in to the glovebox I think and then hold the phone button another few seconds past when it gives you the voice prompt. I had mine not work until I reformatted the usb stick to regular old fat, not fat32, but I don't know why that worked.

To Terry, you still want this update. I know I was irked at the same thing, I've been borrowing an old classic since I figured an update would never come but I still wanted to try out the ipod functionality. I put my touch 4g on today and it worked like you'd want, although it does take a while to start playing. It did in fact pick up the playlist and song that I was listening to before, although it did restart that song. I thought you might be interested so I tested again with that old classic and it worked properly.

On the 'how hard is this' note, pretty hard apparently ;) I heard that the reason for the new iOS based stuff is that Apple changed their API with the latest major release and didn't tell anyone in time to fix their stuff. I know a apple fanboy at work who can't even get simple docks to work with his brand new verizon iphones because they don't speak the new language. I don't know wtf the bluetooth streaming audio issues were, I mean, that API has been around for a while. My 08 fusion can do it just fine with the brand new Thunderbolt, but my 11 ram couldn't? Oh well, they did finally fix it all ;)

We only have a 5th and 6th generation iPod. It does start back on the song that you were on but not where you left off. That is no big deal unless I am listening to a sermon that is an hour long and I was 10 minutes from the end when I got out of the truck. :LOL:The thing that I'd like to fix is the default to startup on the radio instead of the iPod. Does this update do that? Thanks!!!!
