2011 Ram Dash Switches (ram insert)
1 Attachment(s)
So I had the dash off of my Big Horn and on the dash face plate where the radio is there is a RAM logo where another set of switches can go like heated seats ect. Well after having the dash apart I noticed there is one wire connector behind the dash not being used that is mounted to the ram faceplate. Does anyone know what this controls and if it would be as simple as adding the switch.

The picture below show what im am talking about. On my truck there is a RAM logo insert no switches like the picture has. Thanks

You could add the switch panel, but if you don't have anything at the other end it would be pointless. The HDs had the option for Aux. switches there as well, so you might be able to work that in there and get 4 aux. switches.

That connector runs from the cluster to the switches, if equipped. There are 3 wires in it, B+, gnd, and the LIN bus. On my truck when I added the heated/cooled seats and the lower bank switches, it did work. Not sure what you are looking to add.

I was just interested to know if I were to add the lower bank of switches would that connector work with something else (plug and play, heated steering wheel? ect). Plus I would like to add a some switches there to power aux lights behind the grill. Thanks

Well, my heated/cooled seats were plug and play. Almost. They work nice, but the leds on the switches do not light up for some reason. I may try to see if the dealer and correct that. Since the seats work, the heated wheel might too. I have the button on mine, but I do not have the heated wheel itself.

How exactly do you remove the dash to get to those switches? What bolts / tabs are there etc? I want to install auxillary swithches for lights in this location.
Thanks in advance.

If you have a console you must first remove the chrome ring around the shifter by simply prying it up gently. Next under the rubber tray in the console (below the heater controls) there are 2 screws to remove. On the actual dash part, the top rubber pad where it says "ram" needs to be popped out and there are 2 torque screws under there, followed by one torque underneath the cover of the household plug. In order to access the plug torque open the flap and there is a little flat part at the bottom where a small flat head will fit into. Once this is done the cover pops right off. Then gently pry on each side of the dash section and it is held in by clips.

Best of luck

Here is a quick video I found, if you jump to about 50 seconds in it will show you how to remove.

I have been wanting to get an electric cutout and was curious if it would be possible to use the empty switches on the dash as an open and close? I'm sure it can be done but how much work is it to do and how complex? Wiring is not my thing but I could figure it out if it's fairly simple.
