A lot of folks do a first change at 500 and go to a synthetic in the recommended weight. I prefer Mobil One but there are equivalent brands, such as Valvoline, Pennzoil, Amsoil.

I was told by the dodge dealer every 5,000 miles, I now have 4,200 on mine and have yet to change the oil. They put synthetic in from the factory, Mobil one is my brand.

you can change your oil at any time you want
service manual reads 3,000 miles on my '09, i believe 5,000 on some newer engines

Because the dealer keeps changing oil vendors, first it was Mobile 1, then Valvoline, now it is Pennzoil, I am now running Mobile 1 synthetic & using a WIX made oil filter, NAPA GOLD is also a WIX filter, as is Carquest

after changing to the Mobile1 & WIX oil filter & by the way i use a K&N drop in air filter, my Service Engine light comes on between 5,000 & 6,000 miles

oil changes
On your 2011 hemi the book says 8000 miles. I pulled the mopar out at less than 100 and put valvoline 5w 20 full synthetic in it. At 1000 miles I pulled the valvoline out and put Redline 5w 20 full synthetic and will go to 8000 on that and change it . I will continue to use redline synthetic.

I just changed mine at 1000mi it was fairly dark, I just use conventional 5/20 oil always have for company vehicles and personal. When Toyota bought back our old tacoma a few years back we were closing in on 300k and it still ran good and didnt smoke, also have a 96 L9000 with almost 700k that has never seen synthetic so I see no need for synthetics in truck engines. High revving engines are a different story my father has a honda scooter that he runs hard and on conventional oil he would have to add oil between changes, then he tried mobile 1 full syn. and would not have to add a drop. I agree the synthetic is good stuff but is it worth another $20 per oil change? Id rather buy a 12 pack!!

I have 3500 miles on mine and plan on doing the first free oil change at 5000.

Make sure that FREE oil change includes 7 quarts and not 5.

I plan on doing my first change at 3000 miles (am currently at 2200 I think) and I plan on letting the dealer change it with the free coupon they gave me. I MIGHT go to synthetic after that but part of me wants to buy an oil change plan from my dealer which gives me 3 oil changes for a certain price and its about as much as 2 but I can't think of the exact numbers right now.
