EFI to Carb

I was going to put this on the 1st gen specific portion of the site but it doesn't seem like people are on there all that often. I was looking at my 1989 D150 earlier today and found that it was a TBI setup rather than the 2bbl I was told it had. How hard is it to convert over to carb? Just unplug everything and put one on there? Also, where can I get a replacement lower a-arm and front quarter panel both on the passenger side?

to swap it to carb youll need to get a vacumn advanced distributer, ballast resister, and control module. if theres any junkyard near you that have older vehicles you can easily get this stuff off any 70s mopar car or truck, and most 80s dodge trucks. or you can order it through summit racing with the wire harness

as for the fender and control arm youll have to find one in a junkyard or someone parting one out

Why switch to carb? TBI is a great system...better mpg, reliability, and power...

Good info, mr.lopar. I totally agree.

There might be some groups online that totally focus on Gen 1 trucks. They could also have some sources for ya.

What about LMC? Do they not carry dodge parts...they carried just about everything for my old ford...

not anything for the 1st gens

Well that sounds easy enough, never thought of that:doh: There is 2 or 3 junkyards within 50 miles so i should atleast be able to find another d150.

I just like the simplicity of a carbureted system. Just intake-motor-exhaust and minimal electricals for lights, guages, etc...

Here's a link to the instructions. There are listings for each variety of Mopar. Pick the one that fits your truck and go from there. You will also need another intake manifold as you cannot bolt a carb to the TBI manifold unless you fab up an adapter. Easier to swap intakes.
