Newbie from texas - "flowmaster vs. Magnaflow" question????

This weekend I'm going to have a muffler put on but I'm still not sure which one would be a better choice??? I love the sound of Flowmaster 40 Series but have heard that the 14" Magnaflow is better performance wise. Any input would help. Thanks!

Magnaflows are straight through, meaning no restriction to exhaust flow. Flowmasters are chambered so have some restriction to the exhaust flow. This is why magnaflows perform better. Also, I think all magnaflows are stainless steel and have a lifetime warranty, so they will last, whereas flowmasters are not (they may offer stainless but their regular mufflers are mild steel). Sound is up to you, it's an opinion, I personally like the maganflow sound better.

Welcome to Forum Z
Great to have you with us!!!
Magnaflow sounds great and if you decide to go with Magnaflow you should check out
Mufflex they take Magnaflow and weld on extensions to make it a one piece direct bolt-on
verry nice piece you can bolt it on with a lil help from a friend in about 45min.
And I payed about 230 bucks. I figure a muffler shop would charge at least that.

Hope this helps!!!

I've had magnaflows and flowmasters on my trucks over the years. The magnaflow will give you better performance since it is a flow through design while the flowmaster is chambered and is somewhat restrictive to your flow.

You also need to consider construction materials. I believe flowmaster makes stainless models now which is probably what you want if you go with flowmaster. I have had a few of their regular aluminized flowmasters and they all rusted pretty fast. My current magnaflow is stainless and looks as good as new under my truck.
