Front license plate holder

I have a 2011 Express. I live in a state that requires a front license plate. There are only 2 dimples in the front bumper and I dont want to mount the plate directly to the bumper. I think it should have came with a bracket but the dealer said it did not. What are you guys doing to mount a plate?

I'm sure you can get the parts from any auto parts store, if not check out www.fastenal.com and talk to the store closest to you... I'm sure some stainless bolts, nuts and flat washers would work.

Here is a link to the licence plate nuts, the bolts are standard issue at any store. Hope this helps!

Mine came the same way, with 2 galvanized bolts to mount the plate. I was concerned with this too at first but I put a couple of rubber washers in between the bumper (mine's painted) and the license plate.

I'm still trying to figure out what mods I'm going to do, such as a bull bar, if I can find one to fit a Laramie so I may do something different with the plate later down the line.

Also, in my searching I found this which I think is a neat idea I may pursue:

Here is a thread that has a couple of interesting solutions.

My truck came from the deal with a flimsy plate frame with the dealers name. Now NM doesn't require a front license plate, but I have a special plate for my horse. I went to autozone and purchased a license plate frame ($9 - $20) and also purchased a package of star license plate bolts/nuts ($10 for 4 sets). These are the bolts that require a specific tool to put them on/off - star with a hole in the middle. Since the license plate frame that I purchased came with holes for 4 bolts, I attached the top two to the bumper of my truck and the bottom two holds the license plate to the frame. I would attach a pic, but my truck is in the shop until the 12th.

I thought with the sport bumper plate bolt directly into bumper but with with chrome bumper you need the brackets? I have the kit from dealer with everything I need, I just haven't put on a front plate yet.

My bumper came with two square holes. I bought a plate protective cover thing, and it came with two plastic square tabs that you plug into those holes. The two plastic tabs have holes in them so you can screw into them.

I use a pair of these for my plates on my sport...

If you use a bull bar they sell a bracket to mount the plate to bull bar, it's 20 bucks or so. As for the weathertech covers be careful quite a few states fine people with anything in front of the plate no matter how clear it is.
