Dealer or locksmith?

My 2005 Dodge Ram came with no key lock on the outside passenger handle. I don't know whos bright idea this was, but I really don't like it.(I'm old school and was taught to open a door for a lady) I ordered a new handle with a lock hole. Now the question is do I go to the dealer or a locksmith or both to get a lock to match my existing key?:4-dontknow:

Some locksmiths will carry the lock cylinder and be able to key the cylinder, i would imagine you will need the connecting rods to make it work correctly.

I'd go to a locksmith.

a locksmith knows what needs doing, does a technician ?
they are cheaper & you don't have to wait in line
locksmith is a one on one connection, no middle men
locksmiths likely order their parts from the same final source
