4th gen front license plate bracket

fter buying a 2010 a few months ago I got annoyed by the lack of front plate bracket when my plate got bent at the car wash the first time it got cleaned. I searched the forums and didn't really find any solutions so here's what I did....

A stock lic plate bracket off the wifes 2009 Ford Escape (yes a ford part) I picked up at the local dealer for $25 that came with screws and rivits to attach it with.

To start off I cut off the bottom tabs that attach to the Ford bumper, to do so I just used a pair of snips and sanded the edges a little bit to smooth it out.

After cutting off the bottom tabs

Next I used an old cereal box to make a template by cutting two pieces and taping them together to form the contour of the front bumper

Next use the template to transfer the pattern to the new bracket and trim it off.

After cutting the sides to the profile of the bumper you can sand it to smooth it out a bit and get a final tight fit. the final product took me all of 30 min to do this mod, WELL WORTH IT!

you have the option to use screws ot rivits to mount your new bracket

Great job! The fit and finish looks factory!
Have to wonder though, there sure are few Ram owners who's wives drive Escapes. :4-dontknow: Mine is one of them, but I never thought of checking out her ride for parts for mine.

haha yea i was sitting in the garage drinking a beer when the idea came to me, there may be a better factory bracket out there with less modification but it still only took 30 min with a minimal amount of tools or skill to get it done. Cant believe Dodge dont have a factory bracket for the newer trucks

How I wish that my state didn't require a front tag.

Nice write up! I saw you the other day on Huffmeister when I passed by in my truck. I thought that I recognized you but this post confirmed it. Remember me from the MustangWorld days? :D

BTW, what kind of headlights/foglights do you have? They didn't look stock.

Dude, that's a great fit. Was annoyed by the same thing and went with a different bracket, but I like this one much better.
