How could you?
It wasn't even my truck and I almost cried!
Yesterday afternoon I was at the carwash giving Big Red a bath and in the bay next to me this middle aged dude pulls in with a brand new GMC Sierra Denali, deep black, a beautiful truck! So I hear him soap down the truck then all goes quiet and I figured like me he is handwashing the truck NOPE! There this tool is with his 60k truck and the soap brush in his hand adding swirl mark after swirl mark. I'm like DUDE DON'T DO IT! His response, oh I do this with all my vehicles! I then asked if he knew what he was doing to his clear coat. To which he said nothing, I replied....your adding swirl marks BIGTIME. He didn't believe me so I said when your done lets pull into the parking lot and I'll show you what you just did to the finish on your truck. Once out in the direct sunlight this 60k Denali looked as if someone took a wire brush after it. I show him the finish on my truck. He looks at me and says well your truck has less miles on it, I showed him the odometer reading just over 21,000km. He had yet to break a 1000km on his truck.
How could you do that to a truck that expensive? I'm still in shock! I guess when money is no object the value of something is relative!

It does seem true.

My father-in-law has a thing about shoes. He can tell how much someone makes by looking at their shoes. And I have to admit, nine times out of ten, he's spot on!

Obviously, you can do this if you are ignorant of the results....

I bet if he looked at my shoes he wouldnt be able to tell lol. My old beat up nike shox.... haha. I never use the brush, i keep a sponge in the truck if i wash at someplace other than my house

ouch. SD's are damn fine looking trucks too, particularly in (swirl-less) black.

That's why I wont wash anything not in my driveway where i know exactly what I'm doing to my paint

people are so stupid sometimes... it really scares me

What did he say after he seen the odometer? Hang himself? lol

Let it be known though, there is a difference in brushes... the black haired brushes in some carwashes around my place are synthetic and I will never use due to swirls. One carwash in particular, close to my place, actually has soft horse hair brushes. I will use them. Only after a good rinse though. They are as soft or softer than some mitts I have used. I have the Bright-Silver paint though, very good about not showing minor paint issues... :)

Ouch is right! I learned the hard way with those darn car wash brushes and I don't care how much I paid for my vehicle lol, I will never do that again. No one washes my truck but me and it's always at home sheesh, some people's children lol!
