Rpms rev on start up
My little brother has a 2003 4.7 all stock except for a cat-back exhaust and a lot of miles
When he starts the truck, it revs to about 2100 rpms for 3 to 4 seconds before idling back down
that seems a bit high to me, but i don't have any idea what it should rev up to
is this every start or just when it has not been started for a longer time ??
Well normally it should rev to around 1,000 to 1,500 rpm or so when started, maybe a little less, especially on cold start. On cold start it should hold that rpm for so many seconds, then gradually come back down to low idle over a minute or a few minutes. 2,100 rpm seems high...any check engine lights? Drives normal?
