No No ECO

Ya know, I wish there was some way to get the tranny to default to "5" opposed to the ECO mode default. I always have to get in my truck and make the usual tap...tap...tap to the left to get the tranny out of ECO.

Just my rant!

Not only that I wish the evic showed what gear you were in at all times.

Could not agree more. Getting tired of checking it all the time. Of course, if I forget, my Magnaflow lets me know real quick if I forget. The exhaust sounds horrible when it is in ECO.

Mine displays at all times in the lower right hand corner of the EVIC. Not sure why yours does not do the same since we have the same model. :4-dontknow:

When the tuners come out youll be able to diactivate your MDS and wont have that problem anymore!

Not when it is in D right? It only shows it when you bump it down to the manual shift mode...right?

MY '09 reads 1 through 5 on the EVIC & if nothing is showing, i know it is 5th overdrive & capable of going into Fuel Saver/ECO, (4 cylinder mode)
Yesterday I did a 300 mile round trip over the hill & out into the desert
Going up the hill ECO does not kick in & going down the hill i am in 3rd gear to save brakes, the semi that i escort can only go 35 mph down that hill, that is the speed limit for trucks on that 15 mile long hill. ECO only works in 5th over, my sign above the cab acts like a wind brake, so i don't see it come on a lot

The first image shows my EVIC reading 78 MPH, 114 F outside temperature in 5th over, MDS is off
second image shows the MDS/ECO 4 cylinder mode is on, at about the same speed & temperature
This was when i was in Texas last month, click on images to ZOOM

Yes. Sorry, I should pointed that out. Nothing shows if it is in MDS.

I don't understand why you don't want Eco mode to save fuel? does it have some negative effect that I am missing here?

Many people experience better fuel mileage and performance with the mds disabled.
