After market back up camera recommendations
I'm wanting to add a back up camera to my truck. I don't have the REN-RAR? radio so I can't add a Mopar one.
I've looked all over the net and have decided I want one with 170* viewing angles and has the lines or lane on the screen.
So I'm asking for recommendations.
Thank you for your help!
I'm going to subscribe to this bc I would also like to hear some recommendations. I am going to get one for my wife soon.
I would like one too. I seen one of those ones that mounts to the top of the license plate the other day on a vehicle. It struck me that it looked rather ugly, and on closer inspection I could see condensation inside the lens. Definitely don't want one like that, but would not rule out one that mounts on the license plate if it works well and is truly waterproof.
Just doing a search there are plenty to be had. Now the big question is can you get just eh camera from DODGE that will fit into the tailgate handle and have it plug into the monitor system?
Here are a few that I did a quick search for, small and out of sight might be a good option for someone.
One way to go is with an adapter like the Lockpick if you already have a display. Here are their cameras:
There's also the OEM Mopar Part 82211184 'Camera Kit' at $260-300 online. That includes that tailgate handle replacement + wiring + instructions.
Here is what I ended up going with. I will let ya'll know how well it does or doesn't work. The camera met what I was looking for, that being 170* view, a built in measurement graphic and Waterproof Night Vision Backup Camera. Here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0039667A4
This is the monitor made specifically for back up cameras: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005CFLMNC
Both had good ratings from buyers and as you can see came from Amazon who has a great return policy if not satisfied.
Hope this helps!
