2010 dodge ram value now

ok im confused about why the truck has lost 16k in value in one year. sticker for my truck 1 year ago was 49k and now it is sitting at 33,600 according to my banks black book / nada value. I know that it is expected for some neg value but 16k is a lot. only reason i found this was because i was looking into refinancing the truck to lower payments. The other and more important thing in my book is why the add ons for the pickup will not be computed into the whole value of the truck. I.E. the ram box system, the sport hood, audio system etc. the truck is valued at a base pickup value with 4x4 etc.

you lose a major amount once you drive it off the lot plus the 2012's are out so your 2 model years behind. its like this with all cars unfortunately also look at what you could pick up new for 35,000

usually the value is 50% after you leave the lot...also you don't get much if any value for aftermarket stuff (I know it all wasn't aftermarket that you listed...but "extras" often don't count for anything).

I bought mine for I think $19,500(before tax,tag,title,fees,etc...) from a dealer when it was 9 months old, and I just looked up the value and it's $20,100 with 12,000 more miles on it and about another 9 months later. When you buy new you take a big hit in the first few years of ownership...

Given the current state of the automobile market supply glut, inflated sticker values and the fact that you do take a huge depreciation hit once the vehicle is classified as used and you always do (not to mention depressed local market prices); I'm not surprised at this one little bit.

All those factors have caused consumer used vehicle values to tumble.

it's the "last" model where powerprogrammers and chips woring on it

I know man you lose alot of money when you buy new it is crazy but then also i don't like buying used because i have have had alot of problems with used cars in the past very expensive problems not saying that it was the old owner but when miles starting adding up so do problems.lol.That why i lease i know there are people that never will and there are people that will and i am 1 of them that will.I just leased a new 2011 with a 42,000 sticker for 3years and total payments will be 7,200 bucks basically i rented it for 3 years but i have to put no money into it.No tires, exhaust, brakes, tuneups, and is completely under warranty and then in 3 years i go pick up a new one.Just a set of tires i would have to buy would cover my 3 or 4 payments.lol.I know i will always have a car payment but you always have a car payment when there paid off because there is always maintenance and god forbid the motor or trans goes out on ya then you have a year or so of payments u could of paid on a lease

You leased a 2011 for $200/month? I don't know much about lease pricing but that just seems unlikely....but I don't know....

I'd never lease a vehicle personally, but to each their own. I plan to have my truck for 20+ years, and it'll be paid off in about 2 or 3 years. Maintenance from there on out will certainly be less than $200/month. I had my s10 until 220,000 before I sold it, and had very few repairs, probably less than $2,000 in repairs (besides maintenance) over it's life. The truck was easily worth $2,000 when I sold it, I bet I could have got $2,500 or maybe even $3,000 if I was patient as it was seriously in near perfect condition, I kept up with everything...but I sold it to a friend for $1,000 to help them out. Like I said, to each their own, if leasing is for you then great, but I find buying it to be a much better deal if you keep it. I just can't stand to spend a ton of money on a vehicle(the money I spent on this one almost gave me a heart attack...)

with bank loans, they only base the loan on the original vehicle as sold
it doesn't matter if you plated the whole vehicle in 14 caret gold, it doesn't increase the value as far as the bank is concerned

Leasing a vehicle has major set backs too
like having to pay EXTRA for any miles over a set amount

If you paid 49K for it,it would be a 16K loss.If you gave 40K for it,it would be only a 7K loss.I doubt anyone here paid MSRP for their trucks....... :)
