2011 1500 2011 2500 Ram

Just wondering which one will pull better? I have a 2011 4x4 crewcab with 3.92 gears and the new 2500 has 3.73's. the reason I'm looking at the 2500 is I bought a 2008 4 door jeep jk and I think I need the 2500 with the Hemi to pull it to the mountains. the 1500 pulled my 98 jeep 2 door great, but with the extra weight I'm thinking bigger is better...

Hi, well, I agree Bigger is Better. You'll get a better overall Haul with the 2500 but it might be cheaper to change the rear end.

Check out the tow ratings of both and see which better fits your needs

If your towing it alot go with the 2500, if just occasionally the 1500 should do the job

does the 2500 have the LSD with the 3.73s ?

both trucks will do it, the 2500 will do it better , the 2500 is a heavy duty, including bigger breaks. it will stop better as well as handle the load easier while driving.

That is what I'm thinking, but my truck rides very well and I'm not going to give it to a dealer. If I can make a decent trade I will, but If not I'll keep it for now.

Thanks to all who responded..

Ha, I just towed my buddy's 2007 2 door JK about two hours for a day of fun. His Jeep is about 4000 pounds I believe and the trailer I used was about 1300. The truck handled it better than I would have ever thought considering I'm used to towing with a 2003 2500 Cummins. It actually towed it just as well as that truck with the exception of downshifting more often. I could downshift it to fourth using the autostick and it would hold about 2800 rpm and not lose any speed. I honestly think the 1500 will do fine.

Another option would be a lighter trailer and that would be cheaper than buying a new truck. We a small equipment trailer and it is super heavy for it's size. We just recently bought a sixteen foot "gardening trailer" for 1400 bucks new and that's what we towed it on. It's gate is rated at 2000 pounds so it held the Jeep fine making loading a breeze. It's total capacity is 6,000 pounds which is plenty as well. It's about perfect for a Jeep. Just get one 7 feet wide.

My '11 has the 3:92s, with the 5.7. Our camper weighs in just under 7K dry. The 1500 pulls it just as well as my 01 2500 CTD did. The only thing is the diesel got better MPGs while towing. The 1500 averages 10MPG the diesel got 18. Same camper same speeds... hope this helps

If you're interested in levelling too

In case you're also interested in levelling power, please check out our new air suspension for RAM at the Z Vendor page or TotalLoadControl.com.

Adds 2 tons of lifting power and does not interfere with the nice ride; actually improves it. Easy to install; bolts on.

We're offering 30 day money back guarantee too.
