Torque Converter Poll
If you have a 4th gen Ram (2009-present) and either have or have not had an issue with the reported grinding noise, please vote in the poll. My intent is to see how widespread this issue is among forum members.

As for me, I can tell for sure because my Magnaflow cat back exhaust upgrade is the dominant noise I hear (when my radio is not blaring). So I am having a hard time determining if I have this issue.

No issues in over 16,000 miles even while putting my truck through hell since day 1

I haven't had this issue in mine. Also, I haven't had to replace too many in the shop. Curious. I wonder if geography has anything to do with it?

At 1200 miles I'm having mine replaced next Monday. I went into the dealer today and took the service manager for a ride and he heard the noise. I said "there, do you hear it?" and he replied "Yep." I then handed him a copy of the star case printed from the other thread and he said let's go back and write it up and get a TC ordered.
I had planned on getting a magnaflow put on but decided to wait until I had this issue resolved. The noise is noticable at around 1400-1700 rpms while in tow/haul mode if you have the windows up and everything else ( radio and air conditioner) turned off. Feathering on and off of the throttle lightly (not enough to get it to downshift) really allows you to pick up on the noise. I could see where an aftermarket exhaust would hinder someone hearing the noise, you have to be paying attention to it.
I'm a bit looney when it comes to odd noises, I track them down until I have it pinpointed.
