Radio / SiriusXM Question

I'm not sure what model stereo I have, but I have the 2011 Dodge Ram Sport Crew Cab with what I think is the Alpine speaker upgrade.

I've noticed that when i'm listening to SiriusXM and i'm switching stations or when there is a pause in the music, I hear this sort of scratch/hiss that I can only describe as the sound you would hear when you put a CD/DVD in and you can hear it buffering/loading. Its faint, but if I turn the volume down on the radio it goes away. Its bothered me enough that multiple times i've had to check to make sure there wasn't a CD buffering or something else that would be making the noise.

I've also noticed that if I use the Uconnect with my phone, the quality of music over bluetooth isn't too great. I get some fuzz and distortion. On the same phone i have a quality bluetooth speaker which works perfectly.

Is there a chance I got a bad unit or a bad speaker/speakers? or should this type of noise just be expected, and i'm making too much out of it?

I have the same issue, I think it is Sirius' signal.

It is much worse on talk radio, which has a lower dedicated bandwidth (and more quiet pauses).

It annoys the shiesse out of me but to trouble shoot, try listening to FM... No Hiss.

I have the 430N radio that came with the Laramie. I do not have those issues you described above. I know that there are updates for the radio. Maybe the radio needs updated to fix these issues:4-dontknow:? I would say that it isn't normal (at least for me).

The hiss you hear is a satellite radio thing.

The fuzz/poor audio you hear from your bluetooth connection is a problem with Uconnect. The Iphone in particular doesn't work well through bluetooth. Once someone fixes the problem, a new iphone update comes out that ruins the fix. It is unfortunate, but true. There are some things around this forum you can try with mixed results.

the only time i hear the HISS, is when i go under a bridge or under thick trees
then my radio reads
ACQUIRING SIGNAL
