Clutch Fan is OFF!!!

Now that the temps are down from SCORCHING here in Oklahoma, I pulled my mechanical clutch fan off my truck. It took a whopping 15 minutes to do and I only needed a small screwdriver and a BIG crescent wrench. I used the screwdriver to pop the clips out of the lower fan shroud, then to hold the water pump pulley still while i cranked CLOCKWISE on the fan. It wasn't even tight, came off super easy. Dropped the fan out the bottom....I did this solo....and then propped it up against the tire while putting the covers back on. No issues with temps in traffic or sitting, but it is 60 degrees here today.

Definately feels more spirited on the onramps...track night tomorrow to see if I can best myself!!!

Good luck at the track!

Very cool, I've been wanting to do this as well! Do you have stock tstat or 180?

EDIT: Nevermind saw you have 180 in your signature... Did you adjust your fan settings?

Pics! And I do run a cheapo 180 from AutoZOne...#4128
DSP fan settings are at 186 low 196 high

I have been thinking about taking mine off, I do haul stuff from time to time, I guess I could always put it back on pretty easy, hmmmmm let us know how the track goes and u just might convince me.

you could always use a electric pusher fan between the grille & the radiator with a temperature sensitive switch

snrusnak 10-26-2011 04:54 PM

Well there is still the electric fan. Should provide plenty of cooling...and if you have a tuner you can modify the settings like timmy did...

I am waiting for a Spal fan or something like that. If it starts getting warm in the spring time, I will put it back on. It literally takes no time at all to do!

I ran mine all summer no issues its been off for at least a year now... Good luck the track let us know how you did.
