Tailgate seal

I just installed a roll back type bed cover on my ram, but can't find a seal for around the tailgate that is thick enough. Any suggestions?

Looking for one myself - Which brands have you tried?

The problem is the way that the gate meets the bed on each side, there is a huge gap there that NO tailgate seal is going to close up.

Try this, put a flashlight in the bed pointed towards the tailgate and then close it. Look at how big the gap on each side is.

Maybe is you folded up a towel and jammed it in there!

I tried what the shop had where I got the cover, no luck.

What about a self-stick bulb seal? If seen several sizes at Lowes/Menards that look like they'd work without being too getto. :4-dontknow:

I've tried this one - http://www.amazon.com/Lund-30002-Gen.../dp/B000COL4A4
it works OK on the sides and along the side of the rail. I have RAMBOXES, so my rail is a little bigger. I don't like how it fits on the bottom of the bed. The tailgate pushes it down and the sticky tape is exposed a bit, so it's probably going to fall off sometime soon. I'm not sure if I put in a bad spot, but with the way the tailgate moves when you close it, it seemed like the best spot to put it.

I'll stop by the dealer and see if the Rambox has any smaller gaps than the regular bed, also wondering about the bulb seal that lowrpmtork mentioned. Maybe something for a garage door.

I have had a bakflip cover on my truck for almost a year and have never seen much if any water get into the bed in the hardest of rainstorms and while driving through them. What are you guys worried about in the bed thats going to get wet? Just curious, because if you have a good cover that should do it.

I had a Leer fiberglass cover on my '99 Ram and it would suck water in around the tailgate and cover everything inside with a fine mist. I want to be able to put luggage and other travel items back there and keep them dry.

They are probably getting a lot of dust in the bed (not water). If the top isn't completely sealed you create a low pressure area inside the bed and road dust is drawn in the gaps around the tailgate.
