09 Ram Lowered Now Whining Noise

Hey Guys/Gals,

Lowered my ram only 2" in rear and 3/4 " in the front (Cut Coils).

Not sure if the problem is interrelated or just coincidental, there is a very loud whining now and it seems to be coming from the output shaft area of my transmission.?!?!? It developed a few days after I lowered it.

I thought the rear end was toast its so loud I put it on jacks, ran it and the whine seems to come from the front either the front ujoints or the output shaft bearing maybe?

I jacked it back up to simulate standard ride height before I dropped it and it still whines like crazy.

I did have the rear pinion seal replaced about 6 months ago when I first bought the truck, I havent checked to see if that nut backed off or anything yet.

The driveshaft U joint angles are not extreme to any extent at all.
I'm hoping its something simple like the driveshaft U joints, truck has 68000 miles on it.

Any suggestions? I was going to pull the driveshaft and see if the noise still emanates from the tranny as a first step in troubleshooting.

Its an 09 rear wheel drive SLT Hemi.

Thanks for any input folks!:smiley_thumbs_up:

No Takers?
I think my rearend is toast. Looks like the stealership didn't set the rear pinion preload correctly when they installed the new rear pinion seal, I can see where they just marked the nut and housing. Driveshat ujoints were fine.

I turn the pinion flange by hand and its rough in two spots like a dang tooth or two is missing.
