What Shocks do I buy?
I have 2007 Mega Cab 2500 4x4 with the 5.9 Cummins. It has a 2" leveling kit and a 2009 front end steering conversion. I'm looking for new shocks, and would prefer a comfortable ride over towing capacity. I do not tow very often and plan on installing airbags for when I do tow. I've read good and bad things about the Rancho 9000's, good things about the Monroe Reflex, and Bilstiens appear to be popular on this site. I have no clue what to do. Any advice would be appreciated.
Bilstiens are hands down one of the best out there. If your willing to spend the money go with them.
I dont have the money to spend on bilstiens so i went with procomp es9000 (+2" in the front and the ride with the leveling kit is much better, stock length in the rear). Most of the 9000 series shocks are pretty much the same. I went with the procomp because they are nitrogen charged. I have two friends that have BDS 5500 on there HDs and both only complaint is that the freeze up in cold temps.
I have around 4500 miles on the ES9000 and am really happy with them and the ride so far. I pulled a 5000 lb trailer with zero squat
I'd avoid Tenneco (Monroe & Rancho), Poor quailty control & very slow with any refunds or replacements.
Took 4 sets from them & still not sure I have the lastest models. Even having items shipped directly from them they sent me old stock with missing parts & incorrect top mounts.
