Rear Leaf Spring ??????
OK guys I have an 07 Ram 1500 HEMI 4x4 with tow package, and my question is???? Can I install rear leaf springs outta Ram 2500 to beef up the rear end?? I have a 2004 30'Prowler Lynx travel trail and when I hook it up to tow,the rear end of my truck squats like 3" to 4"..And yes i do use a WDH,but it doesnt seem to help to raise the rear of the truck back up..NOw the truck itself has no problem towing the trailer,I just wanna beef up the rear to help out..So is this something I can do or is there a cheaper route to go??? Thanks for everyones input and suggestions....Brian:smiley_thumbs_up:

I dont think changing the rear leafs is really what you wanna do. The ride would be awful unloaded
I would install a set or air bags in the rear. It would be alot easier and probably a little more inexpensive. You can adjust them to your load and your stock ride wont change

Thanks Stangscky12 for the reply,So can you recommend air bags??? Where to buy them??

How heavy is that trailer, is it within the weight limit of what your truck will tow? If it is, it almost sounds like it has too much tongue weight. I agree, air bags are the way to go. Just google them and you will find lots of them available on line. I know Autoanything sells them.

Their are a few members here that use the firestone ride rite system. Their are others using timbres helpers and total load control is a supporting vendor here

i had the same problem and i had a local spring shop add two leafs to each side, it did raise the back end up about 1.5'' ( buut thats ok ) and to be honest with you i think the truck rides better now with no load then it did, i am towing a 30' 5th wheel around 8000lbs and the truck sits level when hooked up to the camper
i did put on new HD shocks, i would have liked to put 3'' wide springs like the 2500 have but i made due with what i had the 2.5'' wide springs

dodge man the trailer is right at 4500 to 4900 lbs dry weight..My truck tows it just fine its just when i hook up the rear squats 3 or more inches....I beleive the weight limit of my truck is 5000 lb...

I doubt that....should be way more than that, my 4.7L is rated at 6,250 lb.

You get a chance, wiegh it some time. Maybe you have? Sometimes trailers are quite a bit heavier than listed by the makers. Either way, I bet its well within the limit of your truck. Depending on the gears, your truck would be rated at more than 5000lbs towing, probably more like 8000 lbs.

OK Thanks guys..The gears are 3.90's..I think thats what they come with when you have the tow package...the truck does have 96,000 miles on it maybe i need to change the rear shocks an get air bags or add some leaf guys have a great weekend,i'm going hunting
