Major towing test
I sold my '99 Ram 2500HD to a guy in Connecticut and met him in Gettysburg to deliver. I towed it with my '11 Ram 1500 on an equipment trailer because the truck was too heavy for a regular car hauler. (7600lbs)
The trailer weighed about 2000 lbs so that makes the gross right at 9600.
I had some misgivings at first but the little Dodge toted the big one about 320 miles without a whimper. The ITBC worked beautifully, it was precise and came on when I needed it. The built in anti-sway earned it's keep too, never saw more that three wobbles and she straightened right up. Managed to get 9.2 mph for that leg, which I thought was respectible.
We then went to Medina Oh. and picked up my new toy, a North Carolina '83 Ramcharger, and brought it home. About 150 miles, got 11.2 towing that one.
Overall, I'm real happy with the performance of this truck, I think she'll do just fine.
Your findings match about perfect with what I've noticed with mine. These trucks have no trouble pulling their weight and more.
Damn!!! Glad to hear.
Ahh the Ram Charger now that is a sweet ride, a friend had one growing up, good times in that thing!!!
