Our four 2009 5.7s, depending on the driver, get around 10 to 13 city and 14 to 20 highway. The only way I see more on highway is cruise on, level ground, max 60MPH and then I get 21 maybe 22 highway. Our 4.7s do better city 14 to 17 and 18 to 21 highway same drivers.
All are loaded the same, about 300 to 400 pounds of tools and parts. We use the Hemi's to tow and plow. Then watch the mileages drop. But the trucks serve us real well. We all prefer the Rams to what we used to have.

Some people claim they get a lot more, but I do not really believe it. Maybe coasting out of gear, downhill, with a good tailwind.

We have (4) 2009 5.7s and 5 2009 4.7s in the fleet. EPA posted mileages are measured under prime conditions. Some mods can get you 1 or 2 MPG more, but it is really driver habits that give poor or better mileages if the vehicles are well maintained.

You got a heavy foot, you get way less.

That's my 2 Cents.

Yep, totally agree. I've put 50k miles on my truck since August 2010 - short trips, long trips, and my daily commute is a mostly highway with a 5-10 miles of city thrown in. Since day 1, best I've been able to do on my blended commute is 14-17mpg. Actually, it was closer to 17 all day long when I had the goodyear HP's - seems my mileage dropped one MPG when I went to the cooper zeon's which is to be expected given the tread.

When I'm out on a LONG trip, highway, no traffic, babying it, I can get bursts of 19-20mpg, but as soon as I hit side streets, I'm back down to that 14-17 range. City and around town driving only, like on the weekends, I'm down to 13-14mpg.

I should mention that I have a fairly heavy foot, so most of my highway driving is 75-80mph. Sure, driving 55 (coasting, I should say) will net me 20-21mpg briefly, but I'd be risking life and limb driving that slowly here in NJ. Also, my mileage drops slightly to the lower end of my range when the winterized fuel is being sold.

i have ideal conditions where i live, perfectly flat at sea level in louisiana, with the predator mpg tune among other little things i can get over 24 mpg if i stay under 70 mph. before the tune my max was 22.5 on several trips to florida.

I am averaging 14.5 per tank. Both city and highway. I was also starting to wonder if maybe I was having a larger issue with the truck.

BTW-anyone with a tuner that has dissabled their MDS see significant loss in MPG? I am considering this for when I purchase a tuner.

I recently purchased a Superchips Cortex and put the 87 tune with mds off on my truck. If anything I have noticed the mpg to be slightly better with mds off than the 87 tune with it on. I hate how it constantly kicks on and off and it is alot better driving without mds. Just my opinion.

It depends on what gears you have aswell. I have the 3.93 gears and only get at the best 17. My friend with the same 2009 gets 21mpg but has the 3.55 gears. He tacks 1600 at 110km and i tack 1800 at 110km so the difference of the gears saves 200rpm and gets him better mpg.
