towing and trailer weight (newbie)

Hey guys i have some questions about towing, I have an 06 Ram 2500 with the 5.7 hemi, and I'm looking at getting a fifth wheel camper sometime next year. What would be the most weight that I can pull? I read on the door that it says 8800 gvwr, so does that mean 8800lbs is the most that i can pull? Just want to know that way i have some idea of what size I'm able to get. I also have no other upgrades as far as suspension, so would i need to upgrade anything, or would stock do ok? thanks for any input, just want to know as much as i can before i go out looking.

GVWR is what your truck can weigh total. You+passengers+cargo+tongue weight<GVWR or that 8800 lbs.
The actual towing capacity depends on some of the options of your truck (cab, bed length, gear ratio etc.)
There is a tool on rams website to lookup towing capacities but I can't seem to find it from my phone.
A good investment might be a set of air bags in tr rear to help handle the weight a little bit better

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the GVWR is the physical weight on the truck, not the OA weight of the trailer. In other words, the weight of the truck and content, plus the weight of the trailer tongue, or hitch.

look at the TrailerSaver air ride hitch for your 5th wheel they cost a little more then most but they are great, i have one and the ride is soooo much better, and i have a 1/2 ton with a 30' 5er
