'03 dash replacement price
For Christmas my parents want to have my cracked dash replaced, but our dealer told my mom that it would be over $1,600 dollars! Is our dealer ripping us off? How much should an OEM replacement part be? Is it easy enough that my dad and I can replace it ourselves, or do you need special tools to do it?

For an '03 I would find a wrecked ram and buy the dash out of it. You could always have it painted to match or painted while it's out. That would save a lot of money, the dealership is going to charge u that much because they would have to order the dash and then the labor.

Depending on what part of the dash is cracked the parts are much cheaper on ebay too.

The small part of the dash by the windshield seperate from the rest of the dash is only like $150 or so. Already painted.

Let me know what you find out.

I have an '03 that has a cracked dash, too.
Mine is cracked on the top part of the dash, directly above the heater vent that is second from the right. (It's the vent that is only on the '03's......'04's dont have it.)

I dont think you'd need any special tools to change it. But it is a big piece and you would have to take a lot of stuff apart to change it out.

Not sure if you realize it bgreer but this thread is four months old so you may not get much of a response. There are several companies that make abs plastic dash covers that glue down over your factory cracked dash. The covers blend in really well and don't even look like a cover. They are also much cheaper and easier than a replacement dash pad. I don't know the names of these companies off the top of my head but if you search the forums you will find the info.
